The Cowlitz Black Bears announced today that Grady Tweit will join the organization in a full time capacity, in addition to returning as the team's head coach for the 2017 season.
Tweit's front office role will include responsibility for baseball operations and community relations. "We are always trying to improve as an organization," said owner Tony Bonacci, "and we just got better."
"We've got some exciting things on the horizon as a ballclub, and Grady's expanded role is a huge part of making those things happen," said General Manager Jim Appleby.
Tweit spent the past 10 years in the collegiate coaching ranks, leading the Skagit Valley Cardinals to a share of the 2016 NWAC North Division title in his first year as head coach after nine seasons on the staff at Lower Columbia College. He has been head coach of the Black Bears since September 2014.
"This is an opportunity for me to approach a game that I love from a different perspective, in a community that I know loves the game also," said Tweit. "It was the right thing for my family, and we are all looking forward to being back."
