Black Bears Announce 2017 Season Schedule

The West Coast League winter meetings wrapped up last week and the Cowlitz Black Bears are pleased to announce the 2017 season schedule.

The WCL will again use a split season playoff format.  The 54-game regular season will be divided into a first half and a second half, with the first half winner from each division having the option to select home field advantage for the opening round.

The Black Bears’ eighth season begins on June 1 at Story Field against the Thurston County Senators, and Cowlitz opens WCL play at home the following night against the 2016 league champion Corvallis Knights.

Other season highlights include the first appearance of the Port Angeles Lefties, formerly the Kitsap BlueJackets, who stop by Story Field for a three game stint from June 23-25.  The home schedule closes with an August 1-3 series against the Yakima Valley Pippins, who visit for the first time since 2015.

The WCL’s 10th All Star Game will be held in Yakima on July 18.
The home schedule will again be filled with promotional nights and special events including three ever-popular fireworks nights.  This year will include an opening series fireworks show on Friday, June 2, a July 3 show to celebrate Independence Day festivities, and a regular season ending spectacular on August 3 as part of Fan Appreciation Night.
