The Cowlitz Black Bears announce the signings of returning players Andy Armstrong (Fr. Oregon St.), Nico Tellache (Fr., Oregon) and Nyles Nygaard (Jr., Western Oregon) to the 2017 roster.
Armstrong (Inf.) returns to the Black Bears after a 2016 season in which he had 37 hits, 10 RBI and two home runs, and was named to the WCL All-Star Game. The right handed hitting infielder made his collegiate debut this past weekend, appearing in two games for 8th ranked Oregon State.
Tellache (LHP) was a staple on the hill for the Black Bears in 2016. The left-handed pitcher made 13 appearances, six as a starter. Nico was 2-2 for Cowlitz with a 2.73 ERA and holding opponents to a .182 batting average. Nico has officially started his collegiate career for the Oregon Ducks, making his first ever appearance this past weekend against Fresno State.
Nygaard (Inf.) is back for his second summer, via Western Oregon University. In 2016, the right handed hitting Nygaard became a fan favorite, with his versatility as an infielder and ability to hit. Nyles' summer was cut short due to an injury, but he is healthy and begins the college season as Western Oregon's starting third baseman.
