Black Bears send three to All-Star Game

LONGVIEW, Wash.- The West Coast League has chosen Ryan Kim, Zach Heaton and Dutton Elske to represent Cowlitz and the South Division at the 2018 All-Star Game in Port Angeles.

     Kim (OF JR University of Portland) is in his second year as a Black Bear and is making his first All-Star Game appearance. Kim currently leads Cowlitz with a .283 batting average, 30 hits, six doubles, three triples and 11 stolen bases. Kim ranks tied for seventh in hits, tied for first in triples and second in stolen bases in the entire league.

     Heaton (RHP R-FR Dallas Baptist) has emerged as the Black Bears ace this season. Heaton leads the team in innings pitched with 29.1 and is tied for the lead in wins with two. Heaton ranks sixth in the league in innings pitched and is fifth with a 2.15 ERA.

     Elske (C JR University of Portland) has been a strong defensive presence behind the plate all season. Elske is hitting .205 with ten RBI, one home run and a pair of doubles.

     The All-Star Game takes place on July 17th at 6:35 PM and is being hosted by the Port Angeles Lefties for the first time.
