LONGVIEW, Wash.- Errors plagued both Cowlitz and Walla Walla in game two Tuesday but the Sweets held on for a 5-3 victory to even the series.

Walla Walla committed five errors while Cowlitz committed four.

The Sweets never trailed after they opened the scoring in the top of the third inning. After a one out double an RBI double made it 1-0. The Black Bears left fielder committed a throwing error on the play that dribbled into foul territory first base side which allowed the runner to advance to third. He then scored on a wild pitch which led to the first unearned run of the game.

Cowlitz answered in the fourth. Ryan Kim (JR) led off with a single then stole second base and advanced to third on the throwing error by the catcher. Austin Bell (R-JR Dallas Baptist) cut the deficit in half with an RBI single up the middle. Bell drove in his 33rd run of the season which established a new Cowlitz single season record previously held by Lorin Archibald in 2015. Dutton Elske (JR University of Portland) tied the game reaching on a fielding error by the short stop.

Walla Walla took their second lead in the fifth. A two out fielding error by the third baseman led to an RBI double to dead center field that hit off the barn.

Cowlitz tied the game at three in the bottom of the inning. Dalton Mitchell (R-SR Alabama A&M) led off drawing a full count walk. He then advanced all the way to third base on a botched pickoff attempt. Jonathan Hodo (JR Benedictine) drove him in with an RBI ground out to short stop.

But the Sweets took the lead for good in the sixth. A one out home run to right field made it 4-3.

An insurance run came home in the eighth. A lead-off single and a fielding error by the left fielder this time put the runner in scoring position. A single put runners on the corners then an RBI sacrifice fly to left field put the game out of reach.

The Black Bears gave up three unearned runs while the Sweets gave up a pair.

Cody Turner (SO Chapman) took the loss in his first decision of the season. Turner pitched 1.1 innings and gave up two runs, one earned, on three hits and one strikeout. Starter Mitch Lines (SO Lower Columbia College) pitched the first two innings and didn't give up a run with two hits and one strikeout.
