Diemer, Carroll Lead Another Late-Inning Comeback

Longview: July 28, 2012: The Black Bears got three late runs to come back from a two-run deficit and pull off an improbable 3-2 win, their fourth in a row and one that moves them a game ahead of Klamath Falls and into second place in the Western Division.
Bud Collura (Clark) began the rally with an RBI single in the sixth inning. The team took the lead with RBI singles from Austin Diemer (Cal State Fullerton) and Brian Carroll (UCLA) in the seventh.
Meanwhile, Tommy Nance (Santa Clara) made it possible with a brilliant relief performance on the mound. Nance got the win after pitching two and two thirds scoreless innings; he struck out five and got out of jams in the sixth and eighth innings. Taylor Williams (Mt. Hood) got the save, his fourth of the year. Williams has now gone 16 2/3 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run.
The Black Bears next home game is Monday, July 30 against the Klamath Falls Gems and it will be Kids Eat Free Presented By State Farm. Kids eat free and run the bases after the game- each child 12 and under receives a voucher for a hot dog, sods, and chips, as they enter the ballpark. Kids Club members get in for FREE!
