Knigge, Wilkins Named To WCL All Star Game

Press Release. Longview, WA. July 15, 2013.  The West Coast League announced rosters for the 2013 All Star Game on Monday, naming Cowlitz outfielder Kyle Knigge and pitcher Zach Wilkins to the South Division squad.

Knigge, a junior from Lewis-Clark State, currently leads the WCL in hitting with a .400 batting average.  He leads or is tied for the Black Bears team lead in hits, doubles, home runs and RBI.     Knigge also will represent the Black Bears in the Home Run Derby. 

Wilkins has made 8 appearances for the Black Bears, posting a 2-1 record. The right-handed sophomore from Palomar College has a 3.19 ERA in 31 innings pitched.

The All Star Game is being hosted by expansion Victoria HarbourCats, and is being held July 23 at Royal Athletic Park in  Victoria, Canada.  Wenatchee head coach Ed Knaggs will lead the South team, and Victoria's Dennis Rogers will coach the North.  The Home Run Derby begins at 5:00 p.m., with first pitch scheduled for 7:05.
