Omana to Return
PRESS RELEASE: Longview-Kelso, Washington,
Thursday, February 13, 2014:
The Cowlitz Black Bears announced the signings of University of Oregon signees Jake Corn (LHP) and Kohl Hostert (RHP), and that Cal-State Fullerton’s Henry Omana (RHP, So) will be returning after a fantastic performance with the team last summer.
The left-handed Corn stands 6-3 175lb, and is a two-time All-Valley Oak League first-team pitcher. Corn has a 14-3 record with a 1.30 ERA and 188 strikeouts in 113 innings through two seasons at Manteca High School in Manteca, Ca. Corn was also received honorable mention recognition by Perfect Game USA on its preseason high school underclassman All-American list, and was named to the second team on the 2013 Cal-Hi Sports Medium Schools All-State Team.
The 6’ 4” 185 lb. Hostert, a senior at Bonneville High School in Idaho, is the number one rated prospect from the state of Idaho and class of 2014’s third rated prospect in the region (Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota) according to Baseball Northwest.
Omana returns to the Black Bears from pre-season #4 Cal-State Fullerton. The hard throwing righty was terrific for the Bears coming out of the bullpen, leading the Black Bears in appearances (22), saves (5) and strikeouts (38), going 2-2 with a 3.99 ERA. His 5 saves tied him for third in the West Coast League. He also earned WCL Player of the Week honors for the final week of regular season play after allowing one hit and striking out 10 in 8 2/3 shutout innings spanning three games.
