The Cowlitz Black Bears announced the signings of four infielders for the 2014 season: Oregon State’s Caleb Hamilton (3B, Fr.), Abilene Christians Aaron Draper (INF, Fr.), UC Riverside’s Austin Roberts (INF, Fr.), and, University of Nevada’s Kyle Hunt (SS, Jr.).


Hamilton has made an immediate impact for the #4 ranked Oregon State Beavers, starting at third base and hitting .321 through the first eight contests of the young season. The 5-11 freshman from Woodinville, Washington was selected in the 38th round of 2013 MLB first-year player draft by the Washington Nationals after a senior season in which he hit .486 and was named to the Seattle Times All-Area Team. 


Draper is another first year player who has been an immediate contributor.  The freshman from Plano, Texas has started all six of the Abilene Christian’s games.  Primarily batting in the two hole, Draper is hitting .385 and currently holds a five game hitting streak.  He is leading the team in RBI’s and doubles, and is second in hits, contributing to the Wildcats’ 5-1 record.


Roberts is beginning his first season with UC Riverside after was a four-year varsity career at Ramona High School and leading his team to the Inland Valley League Championship in his senior season. He was a First Team All-League Player during his junior and senior seasons. In his first start of the 2014 season, Roberts went 2 for 3, with a double and a run scored.


Hunt enters his third season as a fixture in the Wolfpack’s lineup. The sure handed shortstop went 27 consecutive games without an error as a freshman. Hunt is a switch hitter, and is batting .211 through the beginning of the 2014 campaign, hitting in the middle of order.
