The Cowlitz Black Bears announced the signings of four players that will be returning for their second seasons with the club: Santa Ana’s Ryan Aguilar (OF, So), Linfield’s Corey VanDomelen (INF, Jr), Tacoma CC’s Jon Reece (C, So), and Mt. Hood CC’s Zane Bambusch (RHP, So).

 Aguilar was a standout player and one of the leagues top hitters last season, finding   his way into the Black Bearssingle season record books in several offensive categories. His season was among the top 5 all time in batting average, hits, doubles, walks, stolen bases and runs. His 41 runs scored is an all time Black Bears high, and  tied for first in the WCL.  Aguilar began the 2013 season with a streak of reaching base safely in 28 straight games, and also sported a 10 game hitting streak on his way to a .329 average.

 VanDomelen joined the Black Bears after winning a NCAA Division III national championship with Linfield College. As the starting shortstop for the Wildcats last season, VanDomelen was a first team All-NWC selection. In the first few weeks of the 2014 season, VanDomelen has assumed the role as the leadoff hitter and helped lead the nations number one ranked NCAA Division III team to a 9-2 start.

 Reece was a late season acquisition for the Black Bears last summer,  appearing in 10 games. His biggest hit of the summer came on a Aug. 1st pinch-hit home run vs. the Bend Elks. He began his 2014 college season with a RBI single in his first at bat, leading Tacoma to a season opening 5-1 win.

 Bambusch, the right-handed starting pitcher from Mt. Hood, had two stints with the Bears in 2013. He signed a 10-day contract to begin the season and was later re-signed to end the season.  Bambusch went 1-1 in two starts,with a 2.07 ERA and 7 strikeouts in 13 innings of work.
