Black Bears Add Lobos, Riverside Pair

The Cowlitz Black Bears announced the signing of UC Riverside infieldier Casey Henderson (Fr.) and Riverside Community College pitcher Tyler Tungate (RHP, Fr.) together with a pair of New Mexico Lobos: Dominic DeMarco (INF, Fr) and Jake Nelson (LHP, Fr).

Henderson was a 2014 First Team All-League, Second Team All –CIF and Third Team All-State performer at Rancho Bernardo High School. He has started all 8 games at UCR in 2015, seeing time at both third base and shortstop. His two hits and two runs sparked a 9-7 win over the University of Portland as part of a season opening sweep for the Highlanders.

A 6' 2" right-hander from Downey High School, Tungate was the Most Valuable Player of the San Gabriel Valley League, All-CIF Southern Section, and MaxPreps California Medium School All-State Second Team as a senior.  He has made three appearances for Riverside CC, with three wins and a 1.42 ERA. In the second of his three starts, he carried a no-hitter through seven innings against Western Nevada in a 7-1 win on February 14.

Nelson was a multi-sport star at Eaton High School in Colorado.  The 5' 11" lefty was First-Team All-Patriot League and First Team All-State during his high school career, leading his team to a 3A State Championship in 2012, and State Runner-Up finishes in 2013 and 2104. He also starred for three years as a basketball player, leading his team in scoring as a senior, after a Final Four appearance as a junior and an Elite Eight finish as a sophomore.

DeMarco was a standout player at Silver High School, where he was named 3A Player of the Year and All-State shortstop as a senior.  DeMarco helped the Colts to a 26-4 record and the 3A State Championship with 3 RBIs in the championship game.
