3 Huskies Join The Black Bears For 2016

The Cowlitz Black Bears announced the addition to the 2016 roster of three players from the University of Washington: sophomores Nyles Nygaard (3B/1B) and Alex Hardy (RHP), and highly touted commit Jordan Jones (RHP).

Nygaard played in 29 games as a freshman for the Huskies, making 14 starts and seeing time at both third and second. He made his first career start and collected his first collegiate hit against Pepperdine, and had a career high 3 hits in May game vs. Arizona. He started the final 11 games of the year, and finished the season hitting .243 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI.

Hardy made six appearances, all in relief, in 2015.  He picked up his first career win over Pacific, allowing 1 hit and striking out 2 in 1.2 scoreless innings, and ended the season 1-0 with a 3.68 ERA.

Jones is rated the No. 1 right-handed high school pitcher in the state of Washington for the class of 2016.  He had a 1.55 ERA with 64 strikeouts as a junior, going a perfect 8-0 for Kentridge High School, and earning recognition as the South Puget Sound League 4A Northeast MVP and First Team All-State.
