The Cowlitz Black Bears announced the addition to the 2016 roster of three highly touted commits to the University of Oregon: Morgan McCullough (INF), Kenyon Yovan (RHP/INF), and Nico Tellache (LHP).
As a junior at West Seattle High School, McCullough hit .525 over 20 games, with 32 hits and 12 RBI’s, earning him First Team All State honors. He was a member of the USA 18U National Team, which won the WBSC World Cup Tournament in Osaka, Japan.
Yovan was a First Team All-State pitcher as a junior at Westview High School in Beaverton. With a 94 mph fastball, the 6’3”, 220-pound right hander was named to Perfect Game Underclassmen Preseason All-American Second Team. Yovan was selected to play for the Miami Marlins scout team for the Perfect Game WWBA World Championships in Jupiter, Florida, last October, where he hit .417 at the plate, and struck out 5 in 2.1 innings on the mound.
In 2015, Tellache posted a 1.05 ERA for Canby High School and received Second Team All-Three Rivers League honors for the second consecutive year. He participated in the Area Code Games, representing the Pacific Northwest and Kansas City Royals, where he fanned four batters and gave up zero runs in four innings. He was ranked High Honorable Mention in “Perfect Game’s” Preseason All American list.
