Kelowna, B.C.- For the third consecutive game Cowlitz (8-13) struck first against Kelowna (11-9) but for the third time they couldn't hang on.
In the bottom of the ninth, with the score tied at one, Falcons pinch hitter Daniel Priwin drove a one out hit to right field. The runner on first base Brendt Citta was able to get all the way to third. The Cowlitz right fielder over threw to Michael Forgione (JR, University of Portland) which allowed Citta to slide into home plate safe for the walk off.
The Falcons tied the game in the bottom of the sixth with an RBI double from AJ Sawyer. Kenon Yovan (IN-FR, Oregon) gave the Black Bears the initial lead in the first with an RBI sacrifice fly which brought home Forgione.
Cowlitz reliever Jacob Worrell (JR, UC Riverside) took the loss for the Black Bears dropping his record to 1-2. Worrell pitched the final inning giving up just the one hit and striking out two batters. Worrell hit Citta with a pitch which would come back to bite the reliever as the winning run. Falcons reliever Blake Randazzo picked up the win pitching the final 1.1 innings giving up no hits with one strikeout.
The Black Bears went a combined 0-for-6 this season north of the border. Cowlitz also still has only one win against the North Division this season.
The Black Bears will play two non-WCL league games Tuesday and Wednesday against the Portland Lobos and Portland Stars. They will get back to West Coast League play Thursday when the Wenatchee AppleSox come to Longview in the only series of the season between the two teams.
