With a 5-0 win over the Bellingham Bells at Story Field last night, the Cowlitz Black Bears won the three-game series.
It was 3 up, 3 down for the Black Bears in the first and second, but the bats connected with the ball for two hits in the third, allowing the Black Bears to score three runs.
The Black Bears scored again in the fourth and sixth. The Bells threatened to score in the sixth, when they loaded the bases. But centerfielder Jamison Rowe caught a hit by Frank Desico for the last out of the inning.
Kirk Lind earned the win for the Black Bears. Tyrell Poggemeyer took the loss for the Bells. The Black Bears improved to 4-3-1 overall, 2-3 in league.
The next home game for the Black Bears is Friday, June 25, 2010 at 6:35 p.m. They will start a three-game series with the Bend Elks. Until then, the team is on the road for two three-game series against the Walla Walla Sweets and the Wenatchee AppleSox.
