The Cowlitz Black Bears lost their first game against Wenatchee by seven runs. On Tuesday night, the Cowlitz Black Bears lost to the Wenatchee AppleSox by nine runs, 11-2, in Wenatchee.
The Black Bears were allowed two AppleSox runs in the second inning, but were able to tie the game in the sixth inning. Ethan Leiter led off the inning with a home run, his first of the season, and Michael Hoo scored on a single from Pierce Bily. But the AppleSox continued to score in the seventh and eighth innings and the Black Bears were unable to come back.
The Black Bears had seven hits through the game. Mitch Hamels pitched through the sixth inning, recording the loss for the Black Bears. The team is now 6-6-1 overall, 4-6 in league.
The Black Bears meet with the AppleSox for the final game of the series on Wednesday, June 23 at 7:05 p.m. in Wenatchee. The next home game for the Black Bears is Friday, June 25 at 6:35 p.m. when they start a 3-game series against the Bend Elks. Friday night will be Firefighters Night and the Spitball Gang will be on hand to entertain fans.
