Black Bears

Deja vu all over again

BELLINGHAM, Wash.- Bellingham walked it off again Wednesday in the bottom of the ninth inning 3-2.

The Bells led off the inning with a double down the right field line. After a ground out to short stop an RBI double to deep left center field won the game.

Joey Morris (R-SO University of Portland) took the loss dropping his record to 2-3. Morris had one strikeout.

The Black Bears needed a home run from Dutton Elske (JR University of Portland) in the top half of the inning just to extend the game. Elske hit his fourth homer of the season opposite field to right.

Cowlitz (7-13, 17-30) has now lost six series in a row.

The Black Bears opened the scoring in the fourth. Austin Bell (R-JR Dallas Baptist) became the first base runner of the night with a single to center field. A two out RBI single to left center by Andres Sosa (JR San Jacinto College) brought Bell home.

Bellingham tied the game in the sixth with a lead off home run to left center.

The Bells then took their first lead in the seventh. After a walk and a stolen base a throwing error by the third baseman allowed the go ahead run to come in.

Ryan Kaser (RHP SO Lower Columbia College) starts the final road game of the season Thursday at 6:35 PM.
