After the weekend series in Springfield, Cowlitz heads home to play Walla Walla for the final time this season. The series begins Tuesday night at 6:35 PM. Wednesday and Thursday will begin at the same time.
When the Bears played the Sweets last time, they won game 1 (10-0) and game 2 (7-2). Walla Walla was able to avoid the sweep taking game 3 (4-3). Last year, the Bears took 2 out of 3 games against the Sweets. Entering the series, Cowlitz is 8-12 right in front of the Sweets who are 7-11 this season.
The Black Bears are coming off a series win over Springfield. In Oregon, game 1 was tied 2-2 heading into the final frame. AJ Singer (Iowa Western) hit a clutch 3-run home run that would seal the opening game of the series.
Game 2 went to the Drifters in a close game. Springfield won the middle game (4-3). In the series finale, the Black Bears had three home runs in the 4th inning. A lead-off home run from Tyce Peterson (Oregon State) and later in the inning, back-to-back home runs from Ethan Man and Grant Jay (Dallas Baptist). It came down to the final inning once again, but this time, unlike game 2, Cowlitz came up on top. Reed Moring (UC Santa Barbara) stranded the bases loaded to finish the game and he picked up his first win this season.
The Black Bears look to carry the momentum of the series win against Walla Walla in the mid-week series. After a brief homestand, Cowlitz will travel to Corvallis to end the month of June.
