The Black Bears square off against the Northwest Star Nighthawks in their final home game before the 2024 West Coast League All-Star Game. Dylan Schlaegel (Dallas Baptist) will represent the Black Bears on the WCL South squad on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at Joe Martin Stadium in Bellingham, WA. The game will be broadcast live on MLB Network, MLB.TV, MLB.com, and the MLB App.

The Black Bears lead the season series 2-0 against the Nighthawks, with a 12-0 win on June 8 and a walk-off 4-3 win on June 9. The Black Bears were trailing 3-2 going into the bottom of the ninth inning before two hits and an error powered the comeback win.

The Nighthawks come into this game with a 2-13 record against WCL competition, including back-to-back one-run losses to the Bellingham Bells on the road last week.

The Black Bears called up Oregon State commit Martin Serrano from the Nighthawks over the weekend to bolster depth at the catching position. Serrano was the top-ranked catcher in the state of Idaho in the class of 2024 by Baseball Northwest.

The Black Bears will begin their quest to make the WCL Playoffs for the third time in franchise history this Friday when they host the Walla Walla Sweets. The Black Bears only have three more home series left in 2024! Make sure to get out to David Story Field and support the team as they move toward the end of the regular season.
