The Cowlitz Black Bears have announced the 2021 baseball schedule. Cowlitz begins with a non-League visit to the rival Ridgefield Raptors on Wednesday, June 2, and begins West Coast League play at home on Friday, June 4, hosting the Walla Walla Sweets for a three game series.

“We are no doubt excited to return to the ballpark in 2021,” said Gus Farah, General Manager of the Cowlitz Black Bears and Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations for Southwest Washington Baseball Group. “We have been following the state and local guidance for COVID and safety is our first priority. We’re also very optimistic about this coming summer and seeing our fans at Story Field. Connecting with our community and offering a great fan experience are among our top priorities.”

The West Coast League is excited to welcome three new teams for the 2021 season: the Nanaimo NightOwls (BC), Kamloops NorthPaws (BC) and Edmonton Riverhawks (Alberta). This brings the league up to 15 teams!

Other season highlights for Cowlitz include visits from the Wenatchee AppleSox and Bend Elks in June, along with the Victoria HarbourCats and Portland Pickles in July. Also in July, the Black Bears will welcome the expansion Nanaimo NightOwls for their debut appearance at Story Field.

The league champion Corvallis Knights and the Kelowna Falcons round out the summer of Black Bears baseball through August. In total, Cowlitz has 32 home games slated for 2021, with additional special events and promotions to be announced. We can’t wait to see you at the park!
