The Cowlitz Black Bears are happy to announce the signing of UC Santa Barbara catcher Omar Gastelum.
A freshman for the Gauchos, Gastelum hit .344 with 10 RBIs in 17 games this season. Defensively, he is a talented catch-and-throw guy behind the plate.
Gastelum is a home grown talent from Oxnard, California, where he was a standout player at St. Bonaventure High School.
“A good catcher is always the key to success in baseball, and we’ve got a good one here in Omar,” said Head Coach Grady Tweit.
