The 2023 West Coast League is upon us this summer! The Cowlitz Black Bears start off the season with a quick, one game, non-league tune up against the rival, Ridgefield Raptors. First pitch is scheduled for June 1st, at 6:35 p.m. from RORC.
The Raptors ended last season with a 32-21 overall record. While the Black Bears finished just below .500 at 25-28.
The Raptors and Black Bears faced off 7 times in the 2022 season with Ridgefield taking the season series (4-3). This season, both teams look to start the season out on a high note.
New Manager, Kelly Stinnett, brings 14 years of big-league experience to Cowlitz. Stinnett played for various teams including treasured franchises, such as the New York Yankees and the St. Louis Cardinals.
Cowlitz has some exciting players suiting up for the 2023 season! Players are coming from all over the country, as well as right from our backyard. Player’s schools include Lower Columbia College, Cal State Fullerton, Oregon State, UC San Diego, University of Portland, Iowa Western, Dallas Baptist University, Gonzaga University and more!
