The Black Bears head North for their first road trip of the 2023 West Coast League season. They will face the Bellingham Bells for a midweek series before returning home next weekend for a 3-game series against the Edmonton Riverhawks.

The Black Bears won the middle game of the series 1-0 against Yakima Valley. It was the first shutout of the season for Cowlitz. They were backed by stellar pitching by Bjorn Johnson, Noah Emboden and Jase Schueller. The Pippins came away with the series win after taking games 1 & 3. The Black Bears will look to bounce back this week against the Bells.

The Bellingham Bells won the North division last season with a 33-20 overall record. In their first series this season, they took on the Edmonton Riverhawks. The Bells would go on to sweep the Riverhawks in the three game set to open the year.

The Bells and Black Bears did not play each other last year. They faced off in one series in the 2021 season with Bellingham winning the series 2-1. These two clubs will face each other six times this season.
