Calling all Black Bears fans to the stadium for our 4th of July game! You won’t want to miss out on $3 hot dogs, nachos and domestic canned beer. The Black Bears will face off against the Springfield Drifters for the second time this season Monday through Wednesday.

The last time they battled was in Springfield. Cowlitz won game 1 in that series, thanks to clutch AJ Singer 3-run dinger in the 9th inning that secured a 5-2 win. The Drifters took the middle game 3-4 in a tightly contested game. With the series on the line, the Black Bears were on the winner’s side of a one-run game and took the series finale 9-8.

Last year, the Bears and Drifters split the 6-game season series going 3-3. It was the away team who won each of the series. Springfield finished the ‘22 season with a 17-37 record in last place in the South Division. So you can expect three great games this week at Story Field.

The Black Bears just finished a series in Corvallis. The bats were quiet in game 1 of the three-game set. The Knights halted the Bears to stop their 4 game win streak.

In game 2, the Knights were on a 6 game win streak. The Black Bears had some timely hitting in the 4th inning to take a 3-2 lead. The middle of the line-up provided three consecutive RBI singles in the 5th to extend the lead 6-2. Cowlitz never looked back and evened the series winning 7-3. The series will be decided tonight with first pitch scheduled for 7:15PM.
