Black Bears Named Among WCL Top Prospects

The Baseball America Top 10 and Perfect Game Top 30 summer collegiate league prospect lists have been released.  Black Bear standouts AJ Graffanino  and Chris Castellanos were among the honorees.

Graffanino was listed as the #6 Prospect in both publications.  The 6'2", switch hitting shortstop was drafted by the Cleveland Indians, but chose to attend the University of Washington.  As a Black Bear, Graffanino appeared in 30 games, and his .300 batting average led the Black Bears full time players.

Castellanos came in at #24 on the Perfect Game list.  The Stanford junior was a mainstay in the Black Bears' rotation. His 5 wins led the team, and he was named WCL Pitcher of the Week for the last week of the regular season.  He posted a 2.54 ERA, and struck out 49 batters in 53 innings of work.
