The Cowlitz Black Bears announce the signings of returning players Lorin Archibald, Seth Rayburn and Jake Hawken to the 2016 roster.
Archibald comes off a season in which he led the Black Bears in hits (52) and set all-time single season marks in RBI (32) and home runs (4). The left handed hitting first baseman/designated hitter was named a starter in the WCL All-Star Game and Honorable Mention All-WCL. In his freshman campaign at Lower Columbia, Achibald was namd First Team All-NWAC, helping power the Red Devils to the 2015 NWAC Championship.
Rayburn was a workhorse on the mound for the Black Bears in 2015, notching 39.2 innings in 18 appearances, primarily in a relieving role. The right hander from Mt. Hood had 20 strikeouts and finished with a 2.49 ERA, holding opponents to a .196 batting average.
Right handed pitcher Hawken finished the 2015 season with 18 appearances for the Black Bears, tying Rayburn for second on the team. He recorded 16 strikeouts and had a 4.29 ERA in 19 innings pitched. The Vancouver, Washington native enters his sophomore season at the University of Portland, making 14 appearances as a freshman.
