Walla Walla, Wash.- In another tight matchup Walla Walla (10-10, 25-22) again got the better of Cowlitz (9-11, 21-26) in game two shuting out the Black Bears 3-0.
Hayden Duer hit a two run homer over the left field wall in the bottom of the fourth to break a scoreless tie.
Jarren Duran led off the sixth with a triple. Two batters later Willie MacIver hit an RBI groundout to increase the lead to 3-0.
Billy Dimlow and Kyle Narahara shut down the Black Bears the rest of the way to secure the win. Dimrow pitched the seventh and eighth allowing just two hits and struck out one batter. Narahara became the first closer to reach ten saves this season retiring the Black Bears in order in the ninth. Sweets starter Ryan Anderson earned the win improving his record to 3-1. Anderson went six innings also allowing just two hits with six strikeouts.
Cowlitz starter Jacob Worrell (SR, UC Riverside) took the loss droppng his record to 3-4 pitching seven innings giving up all three runs on three hits. Worrell struck out a single game high seven batters.
The Black Bears took the loss despite outhitting the Sweets 4-3.
The Black Bears will try and salvage one game at Walla Walla Sunday at 5:05 PM. Ace Kevin Baker (JR, RHP University of Portland) will oppose Nick Scheidler (IN-FR, LHP UCLA).
