The Black Bears are back at home to play their only interleague series of the regular season, a three-gamer against the Port Angeles Lefties of the North division.

Cowlitz swept Port Angeles in the last series of the season last year, taking all three in Port Angeles. This time, they meet at David Story Field. The Bears played 12 games against the North last season, finishing 8-4.

Game one in Springfield was another close game that the Bears were able to win. Matt Priest hit a two-run homer with the game tied at four in the 9th to secure the victory for the Bears. Cowlitz took a four-run lead in the 5th, but some wild pitching brought in four runs in the bottom half for the Drifters to tie it up. No one would score until the Priest home run.

After a rainout on Saturday, the Black Bears played a seven-inning doubleheader on Sunday. Game one saw Cowlitz come back from down three to win it, capped off by a Jarett Sabol solo HR to take a 4-3 lead. Ryan Falke threw five hitless innings in relief and got the win.

In game two of the doubleheader, Drifters pitching blanked the Bears en route to a 2-0 victory. Despite losing this game, Cowlitz still got their second road series win of the season.

Matt Priest leads the team in HR with two, while Gavin Poffenroth’s 15 hits have him tied with Priest for the most on Cowlitz’s roster. On the pitching side, Kieran Markusen, Camden Oram and Quinn Hubbs are the only pitchers with a 0.00 ERA and more than 8 IP, Hubbs extending his scoreless streak after pitching 3 IP in game two of the doubleheader. Meanwhile, after Falke’s five scoreless innings, he is down to a 0.84 ERA in 10.2 IP.
