After a 6-game road trip, the Black Bears will face off against the Portland Pickles at home for the first time this season. With this mid-week series the Black Bears will look to bounce back after falling in their last series against Ridgefield.
Cowlitz was able to complete two games this weekend against their southern rival before the the Sunday game was cancelled due to weather. After falling in game one on a wild walk-off for the Raptors, the Black Bears also came up short in game 2. Cowlitz had an early 2-0 lead on Father’s Day before the game was postponed due to inclement weather in the top of the 2nd inning. The game will be made up at a later date that is still to be determined.
The Bears recently got some pop in their line-up. Ethan Mann and Grant Jay, both All-Americans at Dallas Baptist joined the club on Friday. After two games played, Mann is 4-8 with 2 hits in each of his first two games. Jay, who just finished a remarkable freshman year hitting 21 home runs at DBU went yard in just his second game for the Black Bears. He is 3-9 with two XBH. When asked what are you looking to improve on this season Mann said, “Defense” and Jay said, “Consistency at the plate.”
