The Cowlitz Black Bears continue their road trip across the Evergreen State and begin their final series of the 2024 regular season this week in Port Angeles, against the Lefties.

The Black Bears dropped their all three games of their road trip to the Sweets in Walla Walla. The Black Bears have received quality starting pitching from position players, Caleb Rozier (Park University – Gilbert) and Shea Bowen (Lubbock Christian). Rozier went four innings on Friday night and gave up one run on three hits in the 1-0 loss. On Saturday, Bowen pitched three innings and only gave up one earned run while going two-for-four at the plate with two triples, an RBI, and a run scored. The Black Bears kept pace with the Sweets until a five-run bottom of the seventh inning put the Sweets up 11-4. Walla Walla pushed their lead to 14-4 with a three-run home run in the bottom of the eighth. Cowlitz split the season series with Walla Walla this season, with each team sweeping at home.

From July 10 to July 28, the Lefties played their best stretch of the season; winning 10 of 15 games against West Coast League North Division foes. Since finishing their sweep of Kelowna on July 28, the Lefties have lost five consecutive games against Nanaimo and Edmonton. The Lefties face the Black Bears for the first time since 2022. The Black Bears took two of three games at David Story Field in that series. Cowlitz returns to Civic Field for the first time since July 2021. Cowlitz won that series 2-1.

The Black Bear-Lefties series will begin on Tuesday at 6:35 p.m. at Civic Field in Port Angeles, WA. Game 2 on Wednesday is scheduled for 6:35 p.m., and the series finale will begin at 6:35 p.m. on Thursday.
