The Black Bears are opening up 2023 West Coast League play this weekend against the Yakima Valley Pippins. First pitch is scheduled for June 2nd, at 6:35 p.m. Gates will open 30 minutes prior to first pitch this season. Gate times may change for select promotional nights throughout the season, stay tuned for updates on social media or the website.
The Pippins ended last season with a 29-25 overall record. The Black Bears finished 25-28. The Black Bears will be looking to start their season on the right foot and carry some momentum through the summer as the try to clinch their first playoff berth since 2012 under their new skipper, Kelly Stinnett.
The Pippins and Black Bears did not play each other last year. The last time they faced off was during the 2021 season. Out of the two series played, the ball clubs split the games with one another going 3-3.
